Last time I wrote for iMediaEthics, I talked about the roles photojournalists play in gathering names on the scene. Without captions, subjects are dehumanized, I argued.
This time I, flip it around – I talked to Andrew Burton about one of his iconic photos from the Occupy Wall Street protests, and how it didn’t tell the whole story about the protests.
With the one year anniversary of the Occupy movement coming up, it will be interesting to see how news outlets cover the protests that are planned for that day in Zuccotti park and elsewhere. You know I’ll be on captionwatch.
