Autumn is bittersweet–it marks the end of warm weather, trips to the beach and no school. But it does bring yummy food and plenty of festivals to Long Island that I love to frequent. Apples, hay, corn-on-the-cob…what’s not to love?
The 24th Annual Fall Fair in Huntington, hosted by United Methodist Church, takes place on September 22 this year and benefits local charities. It is a day of farms stands, food, pony rides and more. A perfect day for a fun family outing.

Then the following weekend (September 28 and 29), there’s Septemberfest in Southampton Village. This event highlights the best of local music, food history and art. With pumpkin carvers, a chowder contest and performances by various bands, it’s sure to be an enjoyable weekend for residents on Long Island’s east end.
