Small island, lots of news

The past three days, I’ve followed the website of the Staten Island Advance, my local paper’s site. They have covered both local and national news, focusing particularly on Hurricane Sandy and the effect it is still having on Staten Island.

On Nov. 25, the Advance focused on how the island was coping nearly a month after Hurricane Sandy swept through. In particular, the top story discussed how, although citizens are starting to move on, a full recovery is still far away.

I think this makes sense as a leading story, because visitors to the site probably are looking to see how things are on Staten Island, and visitors like myself who are checking in from far away will want to get a sense of what is going on.
